InfoSeven photographers traveled to Israel under the auspices of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (“The Joint”). Because of the unique relationship between the state of Israel and The Joint, they were afforded access to places that were not otherwise accessible to the public. The point of the exhibition was to share the artists’ visual experiences and to showcase the population diversity of Israel. Most Americans know only of Israel’s conflicts and wars. The photographers learned a great deal about the state’s and the Joint’s support of the many vulnerable communities, particularly the elderly, handicapped, and youth at risk. The images from the exhibition were donated by the artists to the archive of the JDC.
